A Welcome Like Nowhere Else
One of the most cherished traditions of the RORC Caribbean 600 is the extraordinary welcome every crew receives when they finish, no matter the hour. Coordinated by Helen Spooner and Mike Wetheridge through the Antigua yachting community, a dedicated group of volunteers stands ready, day and night, with cold Carib Beer, warm smiles, three hearty cheers and a photo to capture the moment. Whether a boat arrives at noon or at 4 a.m., the greeting is always joyful and heartfelt. This spirit of community is one of the reasons the race attracts such a diverse international fleet. Every sailor, from Corinthian crews to seasoned professionals, feel they have achieved something special the moment they step ashore.
