Crew member on USA14571 Isbjorn

T-minus 48 hours for the start of the 2016 RORC Caribbean 600! Paul Exner

is back aboard Isbjorn after skippering the boat to an overall win in the

Caribbean 1500 last November. Time to make it 2 for 2!

Our crew arrived last night, though Paul and I almost stood them up! I was

up the rig 3 times yesterday afternoon. We need to shorten the backstay,

which is synthetic Colligo Dux, and so a relatively easy process to

re-splice. Anyway, that whole process delayed us an hour or so, with the

crew waiting ashore at Seabreeze Cafe.

We had a group dinner at Trappa's last night and our first official

briefing as a whole crew. Dan, Vanessa and Charly are staying aboard

Isbjorn now before the race, while Michael, Ken and Keith are staying

ashore.

This morning, over coffee, Paul is preparing for his weather briefing. The

RORC media team is doing a feature comparing us to Phaedo, the fastest boat

in the fleet (a MOD 70 trimaran who sailed the course in 33 hours last

year). They want to hear our weather briefing and will film it for the race

website. We'll also be doing a video blog during the race, which World

Sailing will be using after the race in a TV production!

Be sure to follow the blog here, and the race website and tracker to watch

our progress during one of the world's great ocean races!
