Windrose has had the same three boats in sight for most of the race. Jazz was one of them but she is well in front. Lee Overlay & Oystercatcher are just in front and were telling them in on this long two sail - in our case four sail reach. Birthday cake was served and the Rolling Stones are playing out loud. Hi ho - must go and steer.
Windrose rounded St Marten and now flying down to Guadeloupe. Air temp 26c water temp 26c sunshine, flying fish and stunning open ocean blue water. Where else would we want to be.
Kippers for breakfast on Windrose after a shower of course. One or two complaints from off watch that they were launched out of their beds when we tacked around St Barths.
Lumpy night on Windrose with odd rain squall. Rounded top of St Barths at 06.30. No one in sight. Spirits all very good as we sail downwind towards St Martin.
Just rounded Nevis @ 20.30. Now flat water as we cruise at 14 kts to Saba. Spectacular night sky. Been a long while since I've done sailing like this - SORC in the 80's. Cannot believe offshore racing stopped in Florida. This is stunning sailing.
Sunset on Windrose gorgeous. Team just had a shower to clean off sun cream before sitting down to dinner!! Oops gybing!!
Rolling downwind in 18 knots toward a setting sun. Started watch system and half bunnies are getting rest. Next to us is Lee Overlay who won the race in 2009. Saw Magnus Olson on the back of the Whitbread 60 trying to get a tow from us.
Windrose at NS mark Barbuda. Gybe set! Interesting manoeuvre in 22 knots wind with main foremain staysail and jib top gybe plus spinnaker and mizzen staysail all going up at same time. Well done the RORC crew.
Windrose had good start with reef in each mainsail. Born away round Green island. Barbuda next stop and enjoying lunch
Windrose near start and wind gusting to 22 knots. The RORC team are very excited to sail such a magnificent yacht.
